date_daily: 2024-12-16 thumbnail: none secret: false [This article](https://ufal.my.id/2024/12/16/the-former-blues/) is a compilation of my writings about Twitter in the past two months, November and December, regarding the decision to staying on Twitter or not. Also some bonus like some stuff over the Bluesky. ## No, I can’t do it now I have to spit this out of my mouth before I completely forget about it again. All things about Twitter being sucks is actually goes around the US politics and monetization factors around it. I personally who use Twitter just for my hobby, especially retro computers and almost all-things weeb stuffs, vtubers, mobages, you name it, is not in any part of it. The two above and my hobbies isn’t on the same page at all. That’s why leaving Twitter for good is not on my vision yet. I have read about what Elon do and think when he manages Twitter now. It’s disgusting obviously. Doing it for the sake’s of his ego. And when I looked back to what I do on Twitter, it supposed to be not obstructed at all. I just wanna keep up with my oshi, and that’s what that is. I just want to see fanarts and cool stuff about what I’m following to. US politics maybe not directly distrub me, because I could easily find it on fediverse. I don’t particularly care about it. But monetization issue is keeping me not so well. People will say anything, whether it’s a real thing or just a bogus, even littering timeline with bots. Whatever it takes, just for engagement, and later for revenue if they subscribe to Blue. Elon killing social interaction with money and ego. This same goes for Facebook and TikTok, almost the same way on monetization. Although what’s definitely a good thing I found on fediverse is more new friends. The things I can’t get on Twitter all these years because mostly are just my Facebook friends anyway. In the end I still think I can’t leave Twitter for now. ## Why American conservatives are like that?

I understand what is your political ideology, very understand about that. And here I am also still leaning towards conservative side of thing because my religion and culture. But am I stupid like you guys? No? Okay, hear me out. The thing about you get banned from Bluesky by saying that is because you are on their server, their PDS. But do you know that Bluesky is (currently) semi-decentralized now? You may say “Bluesky is bad because can’t accepting the fact”, that’s just straight up ignoring the main thing, you actually can just ignore the platform at all and just make use of the protocol instead to do your stuff, I guess? You guys the conservatives should learn that you can host your own PDS to be more free. I’m not supporting them at any cost, but this is just straight up stupid for not understanding how Bluesky and AT Protocol works. It’s not Bluesky’s fault for you to get banned, it’s your fault that you can’t maximize the potential of the protocol. Was this like just hardforking Mastodon to create Truth Social, most likely. These guys can make their echo chamber. Again, not supporting but there a way to do it. This is me logically saying. Don’t be a stupid person. ## Twitter and our hobby I actually need more testimonies from people who are interested into any Japanese-related hobbies for the reason why they stop or keep using Twitter despite we know that the most of us know that the platform is affected by Elon’s vision and control. The biggest part of it is obviously the political side of things on the US, but pretty much majority of us doesn’t really want to know what was going on there, especially me and some of us who mainly using Twitter for things related to our hobby. If it’s quite enough, I’ll probably make a report on what should we do right now and later on. ## Moderation practice at Bluesky First and foremost, I’m an Indonesian so I’m not tied to left or right wing or whatever in USpol. But I genuinely asking, if we gonna punish by banning “those” kind of bad accounts instead just cutting the ties and let them be like on the fediverse, what’s makes us different to Twitter then? Since the idea of “looking for available public PDS” isn’t a thing in here, not like on fedi where we could choose whatever server we want, most of people still standing in the same big main boat, bsky.social. But knowing that accounts on Bsky is much portable than an account on a Mastodon server, it’s more decentralized than it. But again, most of us doesn’t understand and want to do that, yet the friendly tool to do the thing is not available yet. Despite being in Bluesky for a year and 5 months, I still enjoy fedi more. Prolly because it’s not too noisy. I’m an introvert too even in online space. I already got too much in my head so reading quieter feed feels much better for me.
